Coaches Registration

Calling all coaches! Please fill out this registration if you are interested in coaching youth hockey during the 2025-2026 season.

If you intend to coach this upcoming season, the following steps will need to be completed:


1. Register with USA hockey as a coach for the 22025/2026 season 

2. Complete this registration form.

3. Complete safe sport training ASAP. All coaches MUST complete safe sport prior to participating in any team activities

4. If you are coaching at a new level - complete the proper age level module.

5. Process your background check (required every other year) All coaches must submit their background check prior to participating in any team activities

6. Complete your coaching level module. Please refer to the below information to determine what your level information needs to be:https://www.usahockey.com/rules

Safe sport and your background check NEED TO BE complete before you hit the ice with the players. If you have any questions as to what steps you need to complete - I am happy to help you with that but can only do so once you have completed this registration.

Rosters must be submitted to USA hockey by November 15th. I strongly encourage all coaches to complete their requirements prior to this date to make sure we can have rosters approved by our regional registrar in a timely fashion.  


I cannot add you to a roster without all requirements being fulfilled. If information is not provided by November 15th this may prevent you from participating in games/tournaments/playdowns/etc.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become a USA Hockey Coach

USA Hockey and the Coaching Education Program require both certification and registration to be eligible to coach. Registration is done online on a yearly basis. Certification is also required. A few basic steps requirements are as follows:

USA Hockey Requirements (Must be completed before participating in any team activities)

  • Register as a member of USA Hockey. (Cost is $52 plus any affiliate fees if applicable).
  • Complete the background screening.
  • Complete the USA Hockey Safe Sport Training. (Required every year and cannot be added to a roster until completed). 
  • Complete the online age-specific module(s) for the age level of play you are coaching. (Cost is $20 for the 6u/8u module all others are $25. All modules only need to be completed once per age level. Must be completed PRIOR to participating in any team activities and cannot be added to a roster until completed).

Coaching Education Program Certification Clinic Requirements (Must be completed before Dec. 31 each season)

  • Find, register and attend the required certification clinic. The Cost is $65. You can only attend one clinic per season and all coaches must enter USA Hockey's Coaching Education Program at the 6U/8U clinic if coaching at the Learn To Play/Learn To Skate/6U/8U classification or Level 1 if they are coaching 10U classification and above. You can take clinics from June 15th-Dec. 15th each season.
