Girls in the Game Scholarship
The ERRA will be extending a special opportunity to four girls to attend this summer’s Girls U12/14 week at the Eagle River Summer Hockey School, Powered by the Wisconsin Windigo (July 14-18th) for FREE, thanks to the generosity of Ken and Lynne Nimmer, community members who believe in the power girls hockey and sports. *Applicants, please read the following thoroughly.
How to enter:
To apply, submit a short personal essay about what hockey means to you and what would you tell someone your age or younger about why they should try girls hockey?
You can include:
- How hockey has impacted your life
- What inspired you to start playing or keep playing
- How you hope to encourage more girls to play hockey
- A role model in women’s hockey who inspires you
- What being a part of a team means to you
Who can apply?
Girls born in the following birth years: 2010-2011 (U14) and 2012-2013 (U12).
*Applicants must live in areas supported by the Northland Pines Girls Hockey Co-op, which includes Lakeland, Rhinelander, Antigo, and surrounding approved areas.
Essay Guidelines
- Length: 300-1,000 words
- Format: Typed, PDF or Word doc
- Deadline: Sunday, June 8th at 11:59 PM

Scholarship Details
- Covers full registration for Girls Week (July 14-18) at Eagle River Summer Hockey School ($625 value skater, $300 goalie)
- Includes: On ice and off ice training, coaching and camp programming
- 4 recipients will be selected, (2) U12, (2) U14
Rules and Reminders
- Essay must be original work written by the athlete herself (no AI)
- Parents/guardians may help with typing or editing, but we want to hear the athlete’s true voice
- Hockey experience is required
- Recipients will be selected based on heart, honest and personal insight (not writing ability)
- Chosen applicants will be notified by Sunday, June 15, 2025
