Please Welcome Our New Rink Manager!

Ecstatic! That’s one word that comes to mind as we welcome our new rink manager, Mason Rogers. With a solid foundation in ice maintenance and the type of passion for the game rinks thrive on, Mason brings a plethora of expertise to our association.⁣

Mason is a Certified Ice Technician with over two years of experience at the Division 1 NCAA level, working with Ohio State University. He has also spent more than three years with the Columbus Blue Jackets family of rinks, where he gained extensive knowledge in ice resurfacing, painting, and maintaining top tier ice conditions in a high volume environment. Mason has worked with a wide variety of resurfacing equipment, including Olympia and Zamboni, and has become adept at troubleshooting and making sure operations are smooth when it comes to refrigeration and HVAC systems.⁣

ERRA Board member and Hiring Committee co-chair Jared Gall shared his excitement about the new addition:⁣

“The hiring committee feels extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to add Mason to our team. The extensive managerial experience he brings to the table will help the E.R.R.A. keep pace in the ever evolving world of ice rink maintenance. We look forward to working with him to continue to offer the youth of the Northwoods a one of a kind skating experience.”⁣

Mason’s experience goes beyond the technical aspects of rink management, he has also developed strong safety protocols, worked alongside multiple departments to ensure efficient arena operations, and handled event space setups for promotions. His skillset extends to ice installation, daily ice maintenance, and even custom painting of logos and rink markings.⁣

Mason’s commitment to maintaining the highest quality ice and providing a positive experience for all of our rink users makes him a valuable asset. We are grateful for he took a chance on us and is dedicated to making sure our rink operates smoothly, from perfecting the ice for practices and games to monitoring rink's systems are functioning at their best.⁣

Jason Skarda, ERRA Vice President and Rink Maintenance Chair, highlighted how this leadership hire supports the organization’s long term goals for growth,⁣

“The addition of Mason as our Rink Manager is a huge step forward in our Board's vision of enhancing the overall experience at ERRA. His expertise in ice maintenance, paired with the arrival of our new Zamboni, solidifies that every program, whether in the Dome or the Cube, will consistently have a great sheet of ice every time they skate. This upgrade not only strengthens our existing offerings but it also unlocks new opportunities, allowing us to hopefully appeal to more individuals or teams looking to rent ice from us." ⁣

When he’s not working on the ice, Mason enjoys exploring the beautiful Northwoods and trying out local hotspots like Honey Bear cheese curds.⁣

“I’m extremely happy living in Eagle River so far! This summer, I’m excited to explore more and try new things, and I’m really looking forward to my first winter here. I love snow, and Ohio winters just haven’t delivered the last few years. The nature here is incredible, and everyone I’ve met has been so friendly. I’m really happy to call Eagle River home.”⁣

Welcome Mason!
